Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 21, 23 CFR Part 200 mandates that, as a federal-aid funding recipient, no person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which the WPPDC receives federal assistance. As a recipient of federal funding, this Title VI requirement applies to the West Piedmont Planning District Commission (WPPDC). The WPPDC will make every effort to ensure nondiscrimination in all of its programs and activities, regardless of whether those programs and activities are federally funded.
