Community Development Specialist
The West Piedmont Planning District Commission (WPPDC), located in Martinsville, Virginia and serving Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania counties, the cities of Danville and Martinsville, and the Town of Rocky Mount, is seeking a Community Development Specialist.
The Community Development Specialist provides planning and management services to contracted municipalities within the planning district and on WPPDC projects/programs. Services provided may include project development, grant application preparation, comprehensive planning, budgeting and financial reporting, and administration of specific community development programs funded through Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, Economic Development Administration, Appalachian Regional Commission, USDA, Virginia Department of Health, etc. Ability to analyze information and develop creative solutions and/or alternatives required. Oral and written communication skills and the ability to facilitate group meetings required. Computer skills including Microsoft Office required. Organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills are needed to be successful in the position.
Competitive salary range depends on qualifications and experience and ranges between $45,000 to $55,000. Benefits include telework option, paid health insurance, life insurance, sick/vacation leave, state holidays, and 457(b) retirement plan.
