The West Piedmont Planning District Commission recently welcomed two new staff members to the organization. The PDC welcomed Brandy Dudley as the organization’s Regional Housing Planner, while Sean Campbell began working with the WPPDC in early November as the organization’s Housing Programs Director. They both support the PDC’s new robust housing program in a multitude of ways.
New Housing Programs Director, Sean Campbell
Sean Campbell is WPPDC’s new Housing Programs Director. In this position, Sean oversees WPPDC’s housing projects and programs, including our Regional Housing Study which kicked off in November 2021 and our regional Housing Production Program, both funded by Virginia Housing. In his capacity, Sean also helps to identify new housing projects, programs, and funding opportunities, and coordinates with our local and regional housing partners.
About Sean Campbell
Sean was born and raised on Long Island, New York, where he started a long career in construction when he was 16 years old and transitioned to starting his own contracting business at age 21. Over the course of the next 18 years, he worked on projects that ranged from simple repairs to complete rehabilitation projects and new construction. Some of the highlights of his career from that time involved working on the Entenmann’s Estate, on the south shore of Long Island, and in New York City for the CEO of Macy’s. He also worked on volunteer projects with the Boy Scouts of America. In August of 2004 he relocated to rural upstate NY and his business focus shifted to Plumbing, HVAC and Electrical.
In 2019, as empty-nesters, Sean and his wife decided to move south, purchasing a home in Cascade, Virginia, and moving there in November of that year. Looking for a career change, he found a position working for the City of Danville Housing and Development Division. There he had the opportunity to work with some extraordinary people and was mentored by an amazing supervisor. Through this experience, he was able to learn and develop the knowledge needed to be successful in low-mod income housing programs and found himself with a passion for the field. He is excited for the opportunity to use that experience and knowledge to create and administer a housing program for the communities that West Piedmont PDC serves.
As far as his personal life, Sean and his wife have raised 3 great kids. They share their home with their middle child, his wife and their two beautiful grandsons. The oldest is 5 years and the youngest is 19 months. While trying at times, it is a gift to watch them grow up. They spend a lot of time playing, riding and taking care of their horses. Sean enjoys his time in the shop and loves to share his passions with his grandsons.

As the new Regional Housing Planner, Brandy works with our local governments to identify, apply for, and administer housing rehabilitation and housing production projects. She works primarily with DHCD, but also explores other funding opportunities through USDA, Virginia Housing, SERCAP, STEP, and others. Brandy will also participate and assist with our regional housing study and housing production program, as needed.
